Miyuki ↔ TOHO conversion chart

Pattern written for Miyuki Delicas but you have TOHO Treasures, or the other way round? Type a code to see its closest matches with swatches. The chart below lists every color in both catalogs by color family.

  • Delica 11/0 → TOHO Treasure 11/0 and TOHO → Delica
  • How close every match is
  • Six close alternatives on each code’s own page

How the matches are found

We compare each color’s screen color in a space close to how the eye perceives color differences (CIELAB) and pick the nearest color in the other catalog. The smaller the difference, the harder the two beads are to tell apart side by side.

Very close
Hard to tell apart side by side.
Close
Same shade; a careful look shows the difference.
Approximate
Same color family, but a different shade or finish.

Screen colors cannot fully show a bead’s sheen, finish and transparency. For colors that cover large areas, put a few beads side by side before you order.

Miyuki and TOHO conversion FAQ

Can I use Miyuki Delica and TOHO Treasure in the same pattern?

Yes. Both are 11/0 cylinder beads of very similar size (Delica about 1.6 × 1.3 mm, Treasure 1.7 × 1.3 mm). You can mix them in one pattern, though sticking to one brand over large areas keeps the rows straighter.

Can Miyuki 11/0 round seed beads replace TOHO Treasures?

No. Round seed beads are not cylinders; in peyote and loom patterns the rows sit differently and the design distorts. The equivalent of a Delica is a TOHO Treasure or TOHO Aiko.

Is this an official conversion chart?

No. Miyuki and TOHO do not publish an official list of equivalents. The matches are worked out by comparing the screen colors of the two catalogs; check differences in finish and sheen separately.

How do I convert a whole pattern to TOHO?

Open the pattern in the BeadDot editor and change the bead type to TOHO Treasure 11/0; the editor converts every color in the pattern to its closest TOHO color. Swap any color you are not happy with for an alternative from this chart.

Draw your pattern with the brand you use

The BeadDot editor works with the Miyuki Delica and TOHO Treasure catalogs; change the bead type and the pattern’s colors convert by themselves.
