How big will your cross stitch be?
Enter your chart dimensions and fabric count. See the finished size and the fabric to cut, including your chosen margins.
Measure before you cut your fabric
Aida is calculated over one square, evenweave over two threads. A margin is added to each of the four sides; choose the allowance you need for your hoop or frame.
Enter whole stitch counts from 2–400 and a margin from 0–50 cm.
Design size = stitches ÷ stitches per inch × 2.54. Fabric to cut = design size + the margins on both sides.

Frequently asked questions
How big is 100 stitches on 14 count Aida?
100 ÷ 14 gives about 7.14 inches, or 18.14 cm. With a 5 cm margin on each side, a 100 × 100 stitch chart needs about 28.14 × 28.14 cm of fabric.
Why is 28 count evenweave the same size as 14 count Aida?
When worked over two threads, one stitch spans two thread intervals. This makes 28 count evenweave equivalent to 14 stitches per inch. The evenweave option does not cover stitching over one thread.
How are margins added?
Your margin is added on every side. A 5 cm margin adds a total of 10 cm to the design width and 10 cm to its height. Choose the allowance for your own hoop and finishing method.
